Total Commander je jeden z nejpopulárnějších správců souborů pro Windows. Osvědčené uživatelské prostředí na principu dvou svislých panelů vedle sebe, struktura menu, klávesové zkratky, funkční klávesy, příkazový řádek a interní prohlížeč - podobně jako v legendárním dosovském Norton Commanderu. Využívá však všech možností Windows: kontextové menu, operace se soubory prostřednictvím myši, přesouvání mazaných souborů do koše...) apod. Dokáže pracovat s archívy (ZIP, ARJ, LZH, RAR, UC2, TAR, GZ, CAB a ACE) jako s adresáři, rozdělit soubory na několik menších svazků (aby se vešly např. na diskety) a opět je spojit dohromady, disponuje rozšířeným vyhledáváním se schopností prohledávat i archívy, umožňuje rychlé prohlížení souborů (i grafických) pomocí tzv. Total Commander (formerly Windows Commander) is an orthodox file manager for Windows, Windows Phone and Android, developed by the Swiss Christian Ghisler using Delphi. It features a built-in FTP client, tabbed interface, file compare, archive file navigation, and a multi-rename tool with regular expression support. It is for the most part compatible with Linux using Wine.
The utility supports extensibility via plugins, and it can bind external programs for viewing or editing files. Putting no stress on your computer
The software is great overall, but it doesn't give you the possibility of selecting the exact plugins you want and don't want to install, and most people are not interested in using everything an application (in this case, a file manager) has to offer. Nevertheless, Total Commander continues to use less CPU and memory than Windows Explorer, and that "feature" is always welcome.
